The toolkit was developed to help parents, private school officials, and public school officials understand the provisions of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that relate to children with disabilities who have been placed by their parents in private schools. Advisory: When the toolkit went to press (July 2003), the U.S. House of Representatives had approved legislation to reauthorize the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act and the Senate was taking up its own version of the legislation.
