At an event at the Department of Education, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, joined by Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Bradley Byrne, announced legislation that would establish a federal tax credit to encourage donations to scholarship granting organizations. The “Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act” would authorize up to $5 billion per year for the proposed tax credits.
