On September 19, 2023, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized 40 exemplary private schools among the 353 schools honored as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023.
The Council for American Private Education (CAPE) nominates private schools as being among their state’s highest performing schools based on a school’s overall academic performance as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona applauded the 2023 National Blue Ribbon School awardees for setting “a national example for what it means to raise the bar in education.” While schools are recognized for their overall student performance, nominated schools also complete an extensive narrative application describing their school culture and philosophy, curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, professional development, leadership structures, and parent and community involvement.
